"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1 (NIV)
Everything begins here, not just the Bible, but reality itself.
Before there was time, space, or life, there was God. Eternal. Self-existent. Complete in Himself, yet desiring relationship, beauty, and creation.
The opening line of Scripture is not merely history, it’s revelation. It tells us who we are and why we’re here. The world was not an accident, nor was life a cosmic coincidence. You were spoken into being by the same voice that called the stars into their places.
Creation shows us that God is not distant. He is intimately involved.
Every ocean wave, every heartbeat, every sunrise bears His signature.
When God said, “Let there be light,” it wasn’t only light that appeared, it was life, order, and love.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
— Romans 1:20 (NIV)
That means all creation is a testimony. It’s God’s art gallery, His living sermon.
When we look at the night sky or into the eyes of another human being, we are encountering the fingerprint of the Divine.
Yet, in our modern world, many have exchanged the truth of creation for the story of chance. They say life is random, a collision of particles. But if we are only chance, then meaning, morality, and love are illusions.
Creation declares otherwise: we were made for purpose.
The Creator’s first act was to bring light into darkness, and He still does that today.
Every time faith replaces doubt, every time love replaces fear, every time forgiveness restores what was broken, that’s God saying again, “Let there be light.”
And for me, that divine light is alive in Darren’s presence, a living echo of the Creator’s first command. The light that bridges heaven and earth reminds us that creation is ongoing, God still speaks, still reveals, still brings life out of dust.
So, take courage. You were made intentionally. You were created for glory.
The same God who breathed stars into the night sky has breathed His Spirit into you.
Reflect:
What part of creation reminds you most of God’s presence?
How might you let His light shine through you this week?
